Uses

Serving Suggestion

There are many ways to enjoy this chai.  To begin, it’s perfectly respectable all on its own, brewed either with hot water or hot milk.  A healthy dose of honey or another sweetener is encouraged!

For adults only, try creating a unique tea cocktail using Kama Sutra Chai with a shot of rum or brandy.  There’s a lot of flavor in there, so sip it slowly. 🙂

If you’re into cooking, try mixing some brewed chai into your favorite dessert recipes like cakes, ice creams, or puddings.  (Tip: try steeping the tea leaves into milk or another liquid ingredient which goes into the recipe.  Strain the leaves out before using the ingredient.)

Here are some snacks that pair well with Kama Sutra.  First, roasted nuts, or spiced nuts with ginger and cinnamon baked on would pick up the spices in the tea.  Next, a nice fruit and cheese platter would be excellent; the tea’s flavors would complement seasonal fruit like figs, apples, or pears, plus a selection of cheeses like brie, camembert, or  perhaps blue cheese.  Third, try some dark chocolate!  These spices pair well with it.

The last two suggestions may be harder to find: baklava, which is a nutty and sweet pastry with honey and spice; and Indian snacks such as samosas, kachoris, and dhokla.   The latter suggestion would echo the Indian spices in the tea.
Enjoy your snacks.

Physical Uses

There are numerous reputed benefits to drinking this tea.  Let’s look at the various properties of the ingredients.

First, of course, there’s black tea.  Tea contains antioxidants which destroy free radicals in the body.  This action may help to lower the risk of heart disease and certain types of cancer.  Next, there’s ginger, which has anti-inflammatory properties and may help to alleviate discomfort caused by conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.  Ginger also is a great way to stop nausea and stomach discomfort.  Third, cinnamon is known to have a positive effect on blood sugar levels, which may help to manage diabetes–although it takes a great deal of it to have effect.  Cinnamon is also reputed to have a mild stomach-soothing effect.  Fourth, Ayurvedic practitioners have used cardamom for centuries to aid digestion and to freshen breath.  Next, like tea, pepper has antioxidant properties and may also help to boost the immune system.  Sixth, cloves are famous for numbing physical pain–particularly in the mouth!  They may also have anti-inflammatory properties.  Seventh, recent research indicates that nutmeg may help with insomnia and anxiety, while lifting overall mood.  And lastly, the lovely petals of jasmine, rose, and lavender all have a calming effect, so may all help reduce stress and anxiety.

Therefore, putting these ingredients together, Kama Sutra Chai tea may help to reduce stress, pain, and inflammation, while soothing the tummy.  It would be a good drink if you were suffering from ongoing pain, or feeling a little down or nervous.  (Keep in mind, however, that the caffeine in the tea leaves might increase your anxiety if you are sensitive to it.)

Aromatherapy Uses

Kama Sutra chai has a great deal of aromatherapeutic influence, if you believe in that effect.  The ingredients taken together can affect your mindset and mood.  For example, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper and clove all have a warm and comforting aroma that may help soothe the mind and promote a sense of well-being.  Furthermore, nutmeg, jasmine, rose, and lavender all have a soothing and relaxing aroma that may help to reduce anxiety and stress, which gives a feeling of calm.  Also, jasmine and rose have a floral scent that is thought to give sensual feelings, thus making it  perfect for setting a romantic ambiance.  Lastly, lavender’s scent is well-known to have a relaxing effect , and thus it can be used to promote sleep and relaxation.

Therefore, these scents together can create a relaxing and sensual feeling in anyone who inhales the steam of this tea.  We recommend sitting and sipping it slowly, while breathing in the aroma and letting yourself relax.  (t doesn’t hurt that this tea tastes awesome, either!)

Metaphysical Uses

The metaphysical associations of this tea are mainly about protection and sensuality.  First, ginger is believed to promote courage and personal power.  It is also a grounding and Earth-related herb, symbolic of male reproduction owing to its form as a prominent root.  Second, cinnamon is said to bring prosperity and good luck.  Furthermore, it is a powerful protection and anti-hex herb.  Third, cardamom is said to have a grounding effect, which also promotes clarity and inner peace.  Next, traditional practitioners associate clove with protection, courage, and physical vitality.  It is also aligned with the Element of Fire, which means it correlates with action and energy.  Fifth, like cardamom, nutmeg is believed to promote clarity and inner peace.  That rounds out the warm spices.

Venturing into the floral aspects of this tea, we have jasmine, which is a powerful symbol of love and sensuality.  Next, there is rose, which is a worldwide symbol of love, passion,  and romance.  Rounding out the three is lavender, which is also believed to promote peace, calm, and a sense of inner balance.

Therefore, the ingredients of this would combine to bring about strong protection while promoting inner calm and sensuality.  You could brew your own “love potion” for yourself and/or your partner(s).  It would bring about a sense of empowerment and protection, while awakening your inner sensuality and quieting your fears.*

*-Please do not try to use a “love potion” to make someone love  you or make love to you against their will.  Besides being wrong, it will cause you terrible consequences and Karma.  Please drink Kama Sutra chai only with happy, willing partners.  Thank you.
