Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for Coyoteas aka Coy o’Teas, retail and wholesale provider for premium tea, incense, and gifts.

It covers what we do with our customers’ and visitors’ information, which is usually protect it and keep it to ourselves.

Here at Coy o’Teas, we have a unique take on business:
We protect our clients’ privacy.  We never sell, buy, or trade personal information.

Who we are

We are Coy o’Teas, located in Lanexa, Virginia, United States. Our website address is: https://coyoteas.com.

Our mailing address is: P.O. Box 185, Lanexa VA 23089-0185.

Collected data

We respect our visitors’ privacy. When customers send us an order, we keep only their IP address and the personal information they purposefully give us, such as their name, address, phone, and email address. Furthermore, we NEVER sell, trade, or give that away; we protect it under secure protocols and keep it to ourselves.  We have done this from the beginning (way back in 1996) and intend to do it until we close our doors.

Additionally, when visitors leave comments on the site, we collect only their IP address, browser and CAPTCHA data to prevent spam, as well as whatever they type into the comment form itself.

Lastly, we use anonymous visitor statistics with Google Analytics to help us understand which pages have traffic, so as to improve our website and business.  These contain no personal information… and we keep them to ourselves.

Other than what’s listed above, we intentionally collect NO other data, nor allow other parties to do so.  On the whole we consider Privacy to be very important, especially in this modern world where it is so hard to find.

That said, our website now has gadgets that we did not code ourselves. We’ve set them all to behave, but if you discover one is doing something it shouldn’t, please let us know and we’ll remove it immediately.  Thank you.

Marketing and Spam

We work hard not to “spam” anyone.  If you subscribe to our newsletter, you may receive a very limited amount of respectful marketing.  That said, we genuinely don’t wish to disturb anyone, and strive to balance the financial demand for promotion with respect for the people who pay our bills.  Our newsletters and marketing always offer a link to unsubscribe, and we honor that right away.

(Also remember, we won’t sell your name to anyone else, so you have that security.) 🙂

Media

Please be mindful of security. If you upload images to our site, please remove location data like EXIF GPS. Other visitors may be able to extract the location.

Cookies

We limit cookies to the least intrusive and only necessary. Here is what our site uses:

  • If you leave a comment on our site, you may choose to save your name, email address, and/or website in cookies. These are for your convenience, so that you do not have to fill them in again when you leave another comment. Those cookies last a year.
  • If you visit our login page, the site sets a temporary cookie to determine if your browser can accept cookies. That cookie contains no personal data, the site discards it when you close the browser.

  • If you do log in, the site sets up several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. The first kind lasts two days (or two weeks, if you check the “Remember Me” box), and the second for a year. Furthermore, if you log out of your account, the site removes all login cookies.

Embedded content

In the slight chance that we embed content from another site (such as videos, images, articles, etc.), please be aware that we cannot control what that content says or looks like. It is literally part of another site, contained within the frame of ours.

We apologize sincerely if any embedded content might collect data, use cookies, use additional third-party tracking, or engage in similar bad behavior. Because we don’t approve of that, we will keep embedded content to a bare minimum.

With whom we share data

By choice, we share customers’ data with NO ONE outside our own DGates Group.  We would ask your permission first.  The only exception would be a formal request by law enforcement or the court system.  That is the central part of our Privacy Policy. If you lose your password, we will send you an email containing the IP address of your computer (or whomever is trying to get your password).  We simply don’t share our customers’ information. Period.

How long we retain data

If you leave a comment, our site saves the comment and its metadata indefinitely. That is mostly so the site can automatically approve any follow-up comments.

If you register, our site also stores whatever personal information you provide in your user profile. We maintain this under secure protocols, and only admins can access it. Furthermore, only you can see, edit, or delete your info (at any time).

What rights you have to data

You can, at any time, request to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase that data. The only exception to the latter is what we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
